"The silver saxophones say I should refuse you
The cracked bells and washed-out horns,
Blow into my face with scorn,
but it’s not that way
I wasn’t born to lose you"
Yup, pretty much sums it up there.
So, the silver saxophones are telling me to stop wasting my time because the effort I'm putting into you is futile and pointless. The cracked bells are all the people who did waste their time on you and came up short and broken. And even if I do end up getting you, "It's not that way I wasn't born to lose you." Again. Futile. Pointless, and finally, The "gate" is my small, pessimistic heart and "they" is your stupid , subconscious that attracts me like metal to a magnet.
So, either way, I'm screwed.
